Hernia Repair Inguinal (Laparoscopic) PreOp® Patient Education

SEE MORE VIDEOS: PreOp.com Patient Education http or bit.ly – Patient Education — Before we talk about treatment, let’s start with a discussion about the human body and about your medical condition. Your doctor has told you that you have a hernia. But what does that actually mean? Patient Education In general terms, we can say that a hernia occurs when the layers that make up the abdominal wall weaken. In other words, the fabric of muscle and other tissues which protect the gut, develops a defect, or weakness. Through that defect the peritoneum (PER-IT-TA-NEE-UM) – and perhaps other organs – push their way outward, forming a lump which can be felt – and sometimes seen – protruding from the abdomen. During normal childhood development, boy’s testes slowly descend from the interior of the abdomen, down into the scrotum. They pass through the abdominal wall by way of a natural passageway called the inguinal canal. In men, the inguinal canal contains blood vessels that supply the testes, as well as the vessel that carries sperm to the penis. Hernias that occur due to a weakness in the abdominal wall at the inguinal canal, are called inguinal hernias. And not surprisingly, men are 25 times more likely than women to experience a hernia in this area. Some inguinal hernias press directly through the floor of the inguinal canal. Others follow the route taken by the blood vessels that supply the testes. This kind of hernia – called an indirect hernia – can even push all the way

I had this done a few months ago, it’s not that bad. Yeah you have some pain but it will go away soon. Just gotta be careful how you move your body cuz you could hurt yourself.

  6. jerryjingjo Says:

@Dennyboy190 i have it if its directly on the top of the tesicle its an epidymal cyst…just a fluid filled sac im gettting it removed for obvious reasons of its uncomfortbale and its unappealing..you can never rule of testiculuar cancer though although it may be unlikely

  7. Dennyboy190 Says:

lets say i feel a lump at my rigtht testicular whats going on?

  8. keshav4u Says:

@drvijayspandey most of the videos on you tube are like mine. its again the discretion of the viewer. im sure a surgeon watching this will only try to emulate this if he is sure of what he is doing. carrying out any form of surgery on patients is also a moral responsibility on a surgeon. without knowing his work it would be wrong to go and ” try it out”. besides i have shown most of the steps in the video i dont know what u might want more. cant post entire video here.will send a copy if u wnt

  9. drvijayspandey Says:

sir, u can post that disclaimer and save your sayings, but it s equally true that most of these videos are being watched by surgeons and they are not going to have much benefit of your good work. thank you sir.

  10. keshav4u Says:

@drvijayspandey The purpose of the videos posted on you tube is for information of general population. it is by no means an effort to teach how to do lap hernia to any person. this is just like a master video u may have seen in conferences highlighting salient features of the procedure. i think i should add a disclaimer to the video saying “the procedure shown is performed by experts under ideal conditions and these procedures should not be performed by anyone without necessary training”. :-)

  11. drvijayspandey Says:

surgeon should have loaded complete video i can not guess what purpose it is serving ? watching this i am sure one can do more complications.

  12. davaire Says:

god i am glad i am Canadian just had this operation this guy if F’d i have a one inch scar
less then 40 riding a bike 4 hrs later

  13. Thatsgold777 Says:

wtf this procedure should only take around 40 minutes!

  14. laythesmack23 Says:

That’s insane, 6 hours for this operation. No way, they might of billed you 6 hours, but this should take like 2.5 tops.

  15. keshav4u Says:

The scars may be bit longer for u depending on your body type. sometimes it is bit difficult to get access to the right plane in which we operate. the reason why CO2 was hurting u is because it had leaked to these areas during prolonged surgery. i cannot comment on the procedure of the surgery as it may be one odd case where it has taken so long. as long as you have the right result from your surgery you should be happy and thank your surgeon….

  16. dragonlense Says:

Also the procedure took over 6 hours!

  17. dragonlense Says:

I had this done about 8 months ago. They told me scars would be tiny. when I came out the Scar under my belly button was 2 inches long…why? And why did the CO2 hurt around my lungs and chest so badly?

  18. maloneysandwich Says:

    I appreciate your answer keshav4u

  19. keshav4u Says:

the scars r small and a good photographer can hide them easily… u can exercise as soon as ur comfortable … the mesh is essential but u need not take any medication against rejection its all highest medical standard thing… get well soon…

  20. maloneysandwich Says:

How big are the scars with laparoscopic surgery on this type of hernia? fotos? I have a budoir foto-shoot the second week of October and need exercise prep before this still, when able after op? It is not necessary for taking anti-rejection meds for the mesh op I hope. If so, alrenatives to mesh?

  21. RVF1418 Says:

i had this procedure performed 6 days ago and the main pain for me was the belly button area. it was very sore for 48 hrs but each day is a whole lot better than the last. one thing i didnt expect was the amount of bruising around my penis and testicles i dont know if this is normal or not i hope it is haha

  22. keshav4u Says:

leave the fixing with nail/suture to your surgeon, it depends on what he is comfortable with. i dont fix most of my meshes and i have good results. as for the correct location goes its all in the eye of the surgeon.thats why all the surgeons dont do the procedure..:-)

  23. weirwolf77 Says:

Don’t go into that tunnel, Mr. Frodo. There is a big spider in there.
I too will be undergoing this procedure, or something similar soon. I saw another video. That surgeon used a nail gun instead of sutures. They tell me it will take about an hour and I go home the same day. No lifting for six weeks. It sucks being old.
BTW, how can you tell when you are at the correct location? It all looks the same to me.

  24. keshav4u Says:

there is no need to worry. one of my patients is doing regular gym workout and i find no problem with it. altough it depends how large the hernia is and also on the surrounding tissue. basic workout can be done as soon as u r comfortable…

  25. ninia2raya Says:

im going for it this week =[
im an exercise specialist, personal trainer, when till i can train again??

  26. keshav4u Says:

this is a very safe surgery in centres where it is done regularly. recovery is very fast and scars are minimal. good luck and speedy recovery.

  27. azuzaj1 Says:

i have to get this surgery in like 2 weeks.

  28. delawrence2006 Says:
